About Urban Landworks

Serving Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Surrounding Areas Of Hennepin, Scott, Ramsey, Dakota County, Minnesota (MN)

About Urban Landworks:

With a passion for the green industry since 2003, Urban Landworks has been providing maintenance and landscaping services to the Bloomington and Twin Cities areas. As a growing business we are dedicated to a wide range of services. Urban Landworks operates out of the Bloomington area and is an owner/operated business with over 60 combined years of experience.  We have established ourselves to meet every expectation of our clients. With a wide range of equipment we are ready for every type and size of job. Our attention to detail is second to none. If there ever happens to be any issues with one of our properties, our clients speak and work directly with one of the owners or managers.

Our maintenance division is focused on weekly turf services, mowing, aeration, fertilization, landscape management, spring and fall clean up and winter services. Urban Landworks maintains a variety of commercial and residential properties around the Bloomington area.

Our landscape division offers retaining walls, pavers and natural stone patios, boulderscapes, planting, pond and pondless water features, custom fountains, rain water harvesting, and much more.  We also offer design services for planning of any project.

As we continue to focus on more earth friendly efforts, we encourage new design practices such as the installation of rain gardens and water features using native materials and plantings, rain water harvesting, and permeable pavement, which excites our company in a new and interesting direction.

We are motivated by a strong work ethic and superior dedication to our clients and services. Our goal is to provide the best service possible and make your property one that we can both be proud of and we believe a solid work ethic, attention to detail, and the use of high-quality materials will continuously yield outstanding results.

Urban Landworks is excited for the opportunity to maintain the outdoor beauty of your commercial property.  We look forward to the opportunity to maintain your property. Urban Landworks is ready with the equipment and staff to maintain to the highest standard of quality for your property.

As with any site in the Midwest weekly maintenance to the turf and grounds is essential. Mowing of turf areas will occur once a week by an experienced crew. Weeds in hard surfaces, planting beds, and mulch areas will also be controlled at this time.  All obstacles and edges of turf will be trimmed to height of cut turf. Any clipping and plant material on non-turf areas will be blown off.

Turf area at your property will be fed with a combination of granular and liquid fertilizer applications. The fertilizer program recommended by Urban Landworks will be determined by soil type and environmental conditions at each site.  This will ensure that the proper amount of nutrition will be given for turf quality.  The irrigation system will also be evaluated to ensure the proper amount of water for your turf and planter areas attains conditions for optimal growth and vigor. Due to the unknown complexity of the system a maintenance plan will be determined at a later date.  Our staff is fully educated in irrigation maintenance and would respond to any items needing attention in a timely manner.

Urban Landworks will perform a thorough spring cleaning to your site. This would include the removal of winter debris, cleaning sand from surfaces, removal of thatch and leaves from turf surfaces.

The fall maintenance will focus on removing leaves from the property. Urban Landworks proposes to provide the fall service over two occasions. Due to the many varieties of trees in Minnesota, leaves fall at different rates and times. We have found it is best to come more than once during this time to ensure that your property always looks its best. During the fall clean up, our staff will also be cutting down perennials and preparing planting areas for winter.

Urban Landworks employs a full-time landscaping and design team. We could propose a seasonal change for areas that may need refreshing. These planting areas give us the opportunity to bring native and seasonal enjoyment to the site. We could add trees and shrubs to any of one of your landscaped areas to add color and height and texture to your property.

Urban Landworks is fully prepared to take on all that winter throws at us. For your property we would provide snow removal services within our standards of practice. At your property this means snow removal and salting services. We will also be prepared to relocate any excess snow off site or to a different location on site. All walkways and sidewalks will be cleared to ensure safety. If these areas become slippery or dangerous salting will be performed. All parking, entrances, and other areas of traffic will be plowed at 1 inch of snow accumulation. Salting of driving area will also be performed after all snow falls to ensure safety of drivers and pedestrians. Blowing and drifting snow will be monitored and/or property manager will notify Urban Landworks for maintenance.  If snow must be removed from your property, Urban Landworks has the resources and equipment needed to do so in a timely manner.

Urban Landworks is looking forward to the opportunity to maintain your property. As a small business we are eager to focus our efforts and passion towards your property.

Have Questions About Us? We Have Answers!

Who founded Urban Landworks and what is the company’s history in Minnesota?

Urban Landworks was founded in 2003 by Mike Bollinger, who remains a hands-on partner in the business today. What started as a passion for the green industry has grown into a premier design-build-maintain firm with over 23 years of experience serving the Twin Cities. Based in Bloomington, MN, we have evolved from a small local team into a comprehensive landscaping authority with 25 dedicated employees, all while maintaining our roots as a family-oriented, owner-operated business.

What does it mean that Urban Landworks is an "owner-operated" business?

Being owner-operated means that our leadership is personally invested in every project, from a simple Lawn Restoration to a complex Swimming Pool Installation. You aren’t just a number in a corporate database; you have direct access to decision-makers like Mike Bollinger. This structure ensures that our high standards for Landscape Design and construction are met on every job site, providing a level of accountability and passion that larger national franchises simply cannot replicate.

Where is Urban Landworks located and which Twin Cities communities do you serve?

Our main headquarters is located in Bloomington, MN, which allows us to centrally serve the entire South Metro and greater Twin Cities area. We frequently manage projects and provide Landscape Maintenance in Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka, Minneapolis, and St. Paul. Whether you need a Paver Patio in a residential neighborhood or Commercial Snow Removal for a business complex, our crews are local to your community and understand the specific soil and climate needs of our region.

How much combined experience does the Urban Landworks team bring to a project?

While the company has been in business for over two decades, our team brings over 60 combined years of experience to the table. Our staff includes specialists in Landscape Design, master masons for Retaining Walls and Boulder Walls, and expert technicians for Irrigation Service. This depth of knowledge allows us to troubleshoot complex site issues like drainage and erosion while delivering high-end aesthetic results for Outdoor Kitchens and Fire Pits.

Why does Urban Landworks operate multiple brands like The Pond Co and Kyle’s Lawn & Snow?

To provide the highest level of specialized service, we utilize dedicated divisions for specific niches. Urban Landworks handles our core Landscape Design, Hardscaping, and Outdoor Living construction. The Pond Co focuses exclusively on the artistry of Water Features, Ponds, and Lake Fountains. For the winter months, Kyle’s Lawn & Snow provides 24/7 Commercial Snow Removal and Residential Snow Plowing. This multi-brand approach ensures you get a true specialist for every aspect of your property.

What are the core values that drive the Urban Landworks team?

Our business is built on a foundation of “Passion, Professionalism, and Precision.” We are passionate about the Minnesota green industry and take pride in transforming outdoor spaces. We maintain professionalism through clear communication and reliable Landscape Maintenance schedules. Finally, we demand precision in our construction, ensuring that every Paver Driveway and Natural Stone Wall is built to exceed industry standards and withstand the local freeze-thaw cycles.

Is Urban Landworks a year-round service provider?

Yes. We are a true four-season company designed to protect and enhance your property regardless of the weather. In the spring and summer, we focus on Landscape Design, Plantings, and Swimming Pool Installation. In the fall, our crews pivot to Leaf Cleanups and Irrigation Winterization. During the winter, we transition into a full-scale snow management operation, providing Parking Lot Salting and Commercial Snow Removal to keep the Twin Cities moving safely.

How does Urban Landworks ensure quality across so many different services?

We maintain quality by keeping our services in-house with a team of 25 skilled professionals. By not over-relying on sub-contractors for core tasks like Paver Patios, Retaining Walls, or Lawn Fertilizing & Weed Control, we maintain total control over the schedule, the materials, and the final result. Our “Total Property” approach means that your Landscape Design is executed by the same company that will eventually handle your Pruning & Trimming and Lawn Aeration.

What is the Urban Landworks approach to landscape technology and innovation?

We stay at the forefront of the industry by investing in the latest equipment and technology. This includes using advanced 3D Rendering software during the Landscape Design phase so you can visualize your project in high definition. We also utilize smart Irrigation Services and modern Mosquito Spraying & Fogging equipment to ensure your outdoor space is as efficient and comfortable as it is beautiful.
